James Rowse and DAP

James has been working as a commercial artist for over twenty years. He studied Fine Art at Reading university and then took a postgraduate diploma in Theatre Design. James started his career as scenic artist at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry where he painted scenery and backdrops for both main house and studio theatres. He also designed for community groups and the youth theatre.

After a move to London James developed a freelance career working for a number of the capital's scenic art studios. He also worked at English National Ballet painting cloths for Romeo and Juliet alongside the resident team of Roy and Alison Hardy. After two years working full time for Kimpton Walkers Ltd where he painted show such as "Bombay Dreams", "We will Rock you", "The King and I", and "Saturday Night Fever", James left to set up his own business.

The original business name, "Decorative Art Projects" was a bit of a mouthful, and got abrieviated to DAP by customers and suppliers alike, and so DAP Studio seemed to make more sense.

DAP Studio has become established as one of the UK's leading scenic studios. Increasingly James and the team have been asked to tackle projects that go well beyond scenic artwork and DAP Murals has been set up as a showcase for the murals that we've painted and the mural painting services that we offer.
